Put the Kettle on, we're bringing biscuits!
Sounds Dangerous?
Why is uBizEE Different?

You are going to need to know a lot more about this before you can make any decisions, so put the kettle on find a nice quiet area of the school (that one might be a little difficult) and let us come and chat with you about the prospect of a uBiz centre within you school or college. If you like what you see, we can help you move to the next stage in Enterprise Education, if not you still get to eat the biscuits!

Enterprise Education can gain you biscuits

uBiz Enterprise Education - Whats it all about?

uBiz is a real print-shop business designed to be run by students as part of their Enterprise Education. A uBiz centre within a school is the ideal way to promote innovation, creativity, risk management and that all important “can-do” attitude. Through the operation of a uBiz centre students develop the drive to make things
happen, the ability to handle uncertainty and the knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.

Oh, and they have lots and lots of FUN!

What do you mean, a "REAL" business?

Well exactly what we say, each uBiz centre is a real business. It has profit and loss accounts, it has members of staff and a management team, it needs to advertise its services and produce quality products to be successful.

There is no way our school could ever afford to do something like this!

Sounds fantastic doesn't it? But it also sounds expensive!

We wont lie to you - there is a cost involved in setting up a uBiz centre, of course there is, BUT (and yes that's a big "but") this cost is less than you probably think, and rarely too much for a school or college to afford. Sigma SDI, the providers of uBiz, have secured concessions from the manufacturers of the equipment to keep the costs as low as possible. We can also show how much the cost can be offset against real savings that you can make compared to outsourcing your print requirements. You can even spread the cost of the centre using our easy rental option.

From now on, the company run by your students will be producing you prospectus, yearbook, business cards, choral song sheets and posters (to name but a few products) as you become their customers. Often a uBiz centre can prove to be self funding.

A Real life commercial print shop in a school? Sounds dangerous!

Create professional canvases streched onto a frame. We'll supply you with everything you need
Relax, we're not talking printing presses here. The uBiz equipment is a much bigger version of the printers you probably already have in school. Commercial print shops have gone digital and this allows for professional printing from laser and inkjet devices.... oh and they're not THAT big.... unless you really want a big one!

PRODUCE YOUR OWN:

  • Prospectus
  • Yearbook
  • Business cards
  • Song sheets
  • Posters
  • Newsletters
  • and many more...

So why is uBiz Different?

uBiz has been specifically designed by industry experts to mimic a real life commercial print-shop, from the equipment used and professional products produced down to the business structure and operation. Each uBiz centre is supported by a mentor from the print industry, who is available to offer advice and support to students. uBiz provides an environment where students are expected to take responsibility for their own actions and are given significant autonomy to tackle problems and issues that may arise, which involves an element of risk as well as reward for their success. Students of all abilities create professional results that they can take pride in whilst developing business skills and real business acumen.
