So who will it be then….?!
This week has seen a selection of students from six local secondary schools embarking upon a campaign to become the Stockport Secondary Schools, Young Entrepreneurs of 2009. Armed with a local authority grant of £500 each, groups of students from each of the schools have generated ideas for their own businesses, which they will develop into fully operational enterprises over the coming 10-weeks.
Mark Davis talks to the hopefulls about starting up a business venture
Mark Davis, General Manager of local business Sigma SDI (the providers of uBiz Enterprise Education) has been delivering the initial Business Planning and feasibility studies at the Study Centre.
‘These sessions are designed to test the practicalities of the student’s Business models and teach each group how to create an effective Business Plan. The developing partnership between the Study Centre and Sigma SDI, providers of the uBizEE Enterprise Education print solution will also see Sigma SDI sponsoring the trophy which will be awarded to the winning group of students at the end of the competition. Mr Alan Resnick, Director of Sigma SDI will also be acting as one of the competition judges’
Mark Davis talks about what goes into a business plan
The finale to the project will see students pitching their Business models to the competition judges, parents, teachers and local Business professionals at an exhibition and awards ceremony to be held in the Club's conference and Banqueting facilities on Friday 3rd July. Here the students will use the multi-media skills they have learnt at the centre to showcase their products and hopefully win the coveted award.
The schools battling it out to become Stockport Secondary Schools Young Entrepreneurs of 2009 are: Reddish Vale Technology College, Offerton High School, Priestnall, Kingsway, Stockport Academy and Werneth.
