The run up to the summer holidays was a busy time for our installation team, with four new uBizEE companies setting up in schools across the North in May, June and July. "Printz" at Airedale High SchoolAiredale High School is an 11-16 school with Arts College Specialist School status. Situated three miles from Castleford, the College became the first in the area to invest in a uBizEE Print Centre back in May. A group of budding entrepreneurs, with the help of uBizEE staff prepared a spectacular business plan presentation to the Head Teacher and Board of Governors to gain the funding for the centre. They were able to present full justification of the costs and indications of how their business would pay the school back. This small group of committed students found the first few weeks in business to be a steep learning curve. They very quickly began to focus on the more profitable products, and have now expanded the personnel within their business in order to draw on additional skills within their year group. With their continued commitment and newly honed organisation skills they promise great things for the new academic year and we wish them well.
Elms Bank Specialist Arts CollegeElms Bank Scool in Manchester was only the third Special School in the country to become a Specialist Arts College in September 2004. The school endeavours to be at the forefront of thinking and practice in special education and aims to provide the highest standards of education and care for their very special young people. Following a visit to the impressive uBizEE Centre at Redwood special school in Rochdale, the senior management team were keen for a similar centre for their own students. As training develops in the centre, the school plan to run Enterprise projects with groups of students throughout the academic year.
